Further Decline

Well, all kinds of dramatic stuff has happened in the last few weeks. I’ve been totally concentrating on a video my wife and I just shot, so I’ve really and completely just not been thinking about tt* at all. Hardly touched my guitar since St. Pats. Well, that’s not true at all really. But haven’t really worked on songs or anything.
So, to sum it up- Angie the promoter is out and we’ve canceled the September shows altogether. I told you we wouldn’t be able to pull them off with out her. I’ll have to post some of the emails back and forth at some point. Some of them are pretty amusing and also really dumb i guess. I’m bummed, because I think the Trustus thing was going to be super-cool. We’d already put a bunch of thought into it. But, we had a talk and tried to remember what our main goal was- and it’s to record a record. So, we’re trying to pull back on all these crazy plans and concentrate on that. The thing is, the Trustus show was supposed to be a fund raiser, but looking at the hard numbers- the rental of the theater, the sound and lighting costs- it wasn’t looking like we’d really raise any money even if a bunch of people came- which probably wasn’t going to happen. So, it’s a bummer- but maybe we can do something similar in a cheaper venue. Or maybe in the alley behind goatfeathers.
So now we’re planning on a couple of shows this summer maybe. But we’ll see. I think we’ve lost our head of steam (it was only like a zip-lock bag full to start with). I don’t think the contribution thing is going to work at all and I’m not even sure how we’ll let people know about it. So, I’m sort of just going into hibernation on it all and I’m going to push it out of my mind. I’m going to try to work on new songs and arrangements for the recording and forget about everything else.
The Trustus show also got me back on an idea I’ve had for a long time, to have a version of treadmill that is like- the cello, a viola, a contra bass and the drums. It would be fun to work up some great string arrangements, kind of sparse- and figure out how to rock in a completely acoustic setting with no electric guitars. It’s totally possible, I know it. Anyway, that would be tons and tons of work, and maybe I’ll get to it, but most likely I won’t. It’s kind of like the guys in Spinal Tap talking about “Saucy Jack.” Probably about as terrible an idea too.
