Treadmill Signs Record Deal
Right. Let’s see. We played Carolina Homegrown and the River Rocks Festival – and I think that pretty much does it for shows for 2011. Arranging shows is a pain in the ass. I’m not in the mood to put any effort in lately. And therefore- we probably won’t play a show again until I get a bit less lazy. It’s too hot to go to Columbia anyway. I really don’t want to be there again until October. It’s out of hand.
We still haven’t done a release show for Leaving Ohio. I don’t think we ever will. We had all kinds of plans to do it at a farm in Spartanburg. But – ya know. I think the moment has passed. On to the next project. I wish there was a band of youngsters that would just go out and do shows for us.
I did go down to Columbia last week for us to shoot a little promo idea I had. If you ask me – it’s funny as shit and really sums up what we’re about. Which is not much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urflxMRzMiw
Tony and I are getting better on the video thing. We’re still not good – but this came out way better than the two music videos we tried. I guess. It got almost 300 views on youtube in the first day or so. For us – that’s viral. That’s as viral as we’re ever going to get. Anyway – the idea was to create some awareness of our latest fundraising situation. It’s time to make the record.
I’ve been stuck for the past 4 months working on an editing project- but it’s just about over. Once it is – it’s gonna be all about Snow White Snow. I culled all my song ideas from the voice memos on my iPhone. There was 4 hours worth of shit. It was painful to go through and to organize. But now i’m looking at 1.2 hours of decent ideas in my SWS folder. Just have to turn 12 or so of those ideas into songs – and voila.
I’ve also started writing what I wish were commercial top 40 country songs. I think my pseudonym will be Ty Billy. I also have a few songs toward the record after this one – which is going to be Treadmill’s ‘sophisticated’ record. Like, sunglasses and a white scarf style.
But I want this next record to be a synth / cock rock record. Like – what if Bad Company backed Trent Reznor? That sounds like a horrible idea you say? Could be. Probably . And that might not really be what I’m going for. But – there’s something I’m digging about a sort of fuzzy completely distorted synth sound mixed with acoustic guitar. Also – I think John Furr from Blightobody/The Tantrums might play keys on this record. And Kenny might play guitar. I’m pretty sick of my guitar playing. I really kind of suck. John did a remix of one of the demos for SWS and it sound pretty great. He’s on a synth kick too right now. I’ve been listening to a lot of Boards of Canada. I don’t know why I’m into this stuff right now. But SWS is gonna be synth heavy – and no one is going to much like it. Thank god it doesn’t matter!
