"Old Photograph" - Idea 2
Wednesday, February 27, 2008
Got home last night and drank too much red wine. Didn’t get a hell of a lot done. I did work on the vocal melody a bit. I think I’m on to something, but we’ll see how it hashes out.
Today, Patrick sent a first version of his idea for the website. I had said something about ‘dilapidated carnival’ - and he sent this.
I love it. This is like a really rough first draft- and he’d kill me for posting it- but I guess if you’re reading this- you’ve seen the final version anyway. If you can see it- the little boy is holding a gas can, and all this shit is going to be smoldering and on fire.
email from patrick to ang:
i was messing with one layout but it was way too sci fi and after a couple days i didn't feel like it fit. then yesterday when i woke up, as is normal, i couldn't remember all of the dream i had that night...but the image of this little boy walking with a gas can and an elephant was still stuck in my visual cortex so...there we have it. this image is a LONG WAY FROM FINISHED!
email from ang to patrick:
i like it a ton - you're a weird mother fucker- which i appreciate. something about an elephant and a little kid fucking up the place appeals to me greatly. i forwarded it on to the other fuckers too. smoldering remnants- cool. love it.
Anyway, I like the direction he’s going. Can’t wait to see it develop. I believe that the boy and the elephant are our new Guy Carrying Cross.
Okay, back to this song. I went ahead and put some scratch guitars down just to see if the structure is what I want it to be. I usually don’t care about putting the changing time signatures in the pro tools sessions, but I’ve started exporting the midi I play for the cello parts into Finale which allows me to print out cello music for heidi- and so it really has to be set up right to work. Plus, I also kind of wanted to see what the time signatures are- and they’re kind of freaky.
Doesn’t look like I’ll get much more done today. I’m thinking about selling some of my old gear and getting a new guitar. Just what I need.
